The mechanics of character development are unlike any I’ve ever played before. The relationship that develops between the two central characters is (or can become) as heartwarming as John and Sam’s dynamic, though let’s just say that its protagonist does not begin his story as an upstanding guy like John.ĭisco Elysium contains little to no combat and is more of an investigatory open world to explore than a strictly linear story, and your choices greatly impact the outcomes of situations. They both fill the player with a sense of mystery around what the world is and excitement to learn how it came to be that way. John, who comes from an underground mining town, will soon discover a world he had never known existed before.

The tone of Disco Elysium is darker than Eastward even at its darkest and builds its story around philosophical/political elements, though both games are similarly punctuated with moments of levity and light. Eastward is an adventure video game with RPG elements developed by Pixpil and released thanks to Chucklefish in 2021. I don't think i expressed myself very well XD but if you could just leave the name of a game who would probably fit my tastes, i would be very grateful! thank yall in advance.Įastward and Disco Elysium are not particularly similar games, but your request for a fantastical world of relatable characters that echoes our own but immerses you in “what ifs” brought the title to mind immediately. I'm not asking for a game with the same gameplay, but just for a game that really suceed in immersing me in a world of "what ifs?", with the right amount of fantasy, but without leaving our real world completely behind. of course, i'm not saying it's necessarily bad, but i don't like it that much. You can really relate to the caracters, they fell like they are human even though we can't even listen to them, not like that anime-esque thing with almost every j-rpg where every single human is a anime character, for good or for worse. i feel excited every time that i'm going to the next area of the game, and when i reach the area, it's an absolute joy seeing things that i haven't before. but i think that i developed some kind of affection for this type of world, this "fantasy-with-reality" thing, you know? you have humans, cars, computers and everything that we have in real world, but with robots, magic, unknown forces. So i recently finished Eastward, and i loved every aspect of the game! probably my game of the year.
